WoW Forever Leatherworking Guide: Leveling & Best Gear

Leatherworking in WoW Forever has about 270 new recipes, a crafting station called the Tanning Rack that drops in Shadowfang Keep, 13 armor families you buy as Merchant's Favor patterns, and level 60 class set pieces in the game files. Here's what we know, what we don't, how I'd level it from 1 to 300, and who should take it. Some of this is datamined beta data and may change before launch. Whenever something on screen is datamined, the corner says so. The 225-300 route comes from the game files and is untested: nobody can craft past 225 in the beta yet (the level cap is 30, Artisan needs level 35). What's covered: what Leatherworking makes and who should take it; the Tanning Rack (48 recipes need it, the blueprint from Razorclaw the Butcher); the Azeroth Commerce Authority's 81 Favor patterns and the Leatherworking Certification; Forceful and Mystic armor kits; the 13 armor families and Pristine Leather; the Light Leather Reagent Bag; the level 60 class sets (Grovekeeper, Wildstalker's, Grimstitch, Spiritcaller) and the Unique-Equipped catch; training and ranks; how to level it 1 to 225, then 225 to 300; the Favor shortcut; what to make while leveling; money makers; Legacy perks that help; and what we still don't know. The other cool sets in the data (set bonuses from the game files, shortened - untested): Stormshroud Armor (4 craftable pieces, needs Elemental Leatherworking): (2) 10% chance of dealing 15 to 25 Nature damage on a successful melee attack. (3) 4% chance on melee attack of restoring 30 energy. (4) +14 Attack Power. Grovekeeper Raiment (Druid Restoration): (2) Increased Spirit +10. (3) Barkskin cooldown -10 sec. (4) Healing done +26, damage +9. (5) Swiftmend cooldown -3.0 sec. Grovekeeper Eclipse (Druid Balance): (2) +1% hit. (3) Nature's Grasp cooldown -15 sec. (4) +21 spell damage against Demons. (5) Insect Swarm lasts 3 sec longer. Grovekeeper Ferocity (Druid Feral): (2) +1% attack and casting speed. (3) Hibernate castable in Cat Form. (4) +36 Attack Power against Demons. (5) Shifting Power cooldown -1.0 sec. Grimstitch Armor (Rogue): (2) +1% hit. (3) Kidney Shot cooldown -3 sec. (4) +36 Attack Power against Humanoids. (5) Envenom and Eviscerate cost 5 less Energy. The Spiritcaller (Shaman Restoration): (2) Increased Spirit +10. (3) Fire and Water totem radius +10 yds. (4) Healing done +26, damage +9. (5) Riptide cooldown -1 sec. The Spiritcaller's Rage (Shaman Enhancement): (2) +1% attack and casting speed. (3) Air and Earth totem radius +10 yds. (4) +36 Attack Power against Elementals. (5) Stormstrike cooldown -0.5 sec. The Spiritcaller's Storm (Shaman Elemental): (2) +1% hit. (3) Earthbind Totem cooldown -2 sec. (4) +21 spell damage against Elementals. (5) Lava Burst cooldown -1 sec. Devilsaur Armor (needs Tribal Leatherworking): (2) Improves your chance to hit by 2.0%. The crafted Hyjal class pieces are Unique-Equipped: Artisan's Tier (1) - you can wear one at a time, so the set bonuses need pieces whose source isn't known yet.
