Have you ever had a thought that felt completely true in the moment — only to realize later that it may not have been the whole story?
In this video, I talk about cognitive distortions: the automatic thinking patterns that can make situations feel worse, more personal, more hopeless, or more threatening than they actually are.
Drawing from cognitive therapy, mindfulness, and the work of Aaron Beck, David Burns, and Larry Rosenberg, we’ll explore common patterns such as all-or-nothing thinking, catastrophizing, mind reading, fortune telling, emotional reasoning, and “should” statements.
Most importantly, we’ll look at how mindfulness can help us pause, notice our thoughts more clearly, and remember that thoughts are not always facts.
You don’t have to believe every thought your mind produces. With awareness and compassion, you can learn to question distorted thinking and return to the present moment — one breath at a time.
