Since Easter, life has been moving at full speed.
My mornings were spent at work, my evenings in meetings, and my nights buried in graduate school assignments. My schedule became busier by the day, and with classes, presentations, and commitments to my church youth group, it became difficult to find even a single empty space on my calendar.
The thing I missed the most was attending early morning Mass.
As late nights at work and evening meetings became more frequent, there were more and more mornings when I couldn't make it to Mass. Maybe that's why I began to feel a kind of thirst that was hard to explain. I was busy—really busy—but somehow I still felt empty. Even after giving my best every day, it felt like something essential was missing. At first, I thought I was simply exhausted. But as time went on, I slowly realized that the emptiness wasn't physical. It was spiritual.
Looking back, the first half of the year was all about what I could accomplish. I wanted to become better at my work. I didn't want to fall behind in graduate school, and I wanted to fulfill my responsibilities well in my church community. I was so focused on checking things off my to-do list that I gradually stopped asking myself why I had started this journey in the first place, or what I truly wanted to fill my days with.
So, I want to live a little differently in the second half of the year.
That doesn't mean working less. If anything, I want to work just as hard, learn even more, and continue growing. But I also want to put the center of my life back where it belongs.
I want to make time to be with God before everything else, even in the middle of a busy schedule. Instead of planning each day around everything I have to do, I want to protect what matters most first and let everything else follow.
If the first half of the year was about running as fast as I could, I hope the second half will be about making sure I'm running in the right direction.
I'm only now beginning to understand what people mean when they say that direction matters more than speed.
