I want to share a different perspective today: a way of looking at money that has helped me navigate entrepreneurship with a lot more peace.
I think my relationship with money is pretty different from a lot of business owners. I feel pretty neutral about money. I've never been highly ambitious around it, but I'm also not avoidant of it anymore.

One lens that has helped me reach this point of peace and balance is that I've learned to see money just like Nature.
It has seasons. It has cycles. It ebbs and flows. There is always an ongoing contraction and expansion happening.
As a pet sitter and Virtual Assistant, my income can fluctuate by a couple thousand dollars depending on how much work I have or how many sits we book. And I've learned to see that as completely natural rather than something to panic about.
I think of money like the ocean. There is a high tide and a low tide.
I think of it like the weather. Sometimes it rains. Sometimes the sun comes back out.
A business is a living organism, essentially. There are living people in it producing work, receiving transactions, creating things, solving problems and creating value. So why wouldn't it have seasons, too, just like any living organism.
In this video, I talk about:
🌊 Why I don't panic when my business income ebbs
🌿 Why I think of money like nature
🌱 Why I don't always rush to fill a gap when a client leaves; use it as space to listen first
💰 My history with being avoidant around money and how owning a business changed that
🌀 Anxious vs. Avoidant money attachments, just like with people!
🌧️ Why financial scarcity and nervous-system patterns can make an ebb feel much scarier
🌱 How coming back to the natural cycles of expansion and contraction can help you respond instead of panic
Money matters. It pays the bills and buys groceries. But it doesn't have to be the primary motivator for creating your business.
As a highly sensitive person and Virgo, I've always prioritized having meaningful connection with what I do over chasing a paycheck. The salary I earned was never the primary motivating factor for me and still isn’t. And I’m here to share that because I know I’m not alone in this stance.
So if you're someone who doesn't want to build your entire life around money, but sometimes wonders if there's something wrong with you because you aren't more ambitious about it, I want you to know you're in good company.
Money in life and in business will always ebb and flow, expand and contract. Nature helps us relax around the fluctuations that naturally happen and trust that what goes out must come back.
