Claude cannot check an order, read your database, or call your API on its own. Tool use fixes that. In this episode of AI Wright, you will learn how to define tools for Claude, how your code runs them, and how each result goes back into the conversation. We build a small tool loop in Python. Claude asks for an order status and a return policy. Our code runs each tool and sends the result back. Then we show what happens when a tool fails, and how to report that failure clearly. What you will learn: How Claude requests a tool instead of running it How to write tool descriptions that guide Claude's choices How the tool loop works, step by step How to report tool errors with is_error What tool use cannot solve, including unsafe actions and untrusted tool results New episodes on AI Wright.
