Aarta of Guru Nanak Dev Ji by Baba Sri Chand + English Translation & Transliteration

Bābā Sirī Chand is the eldest son of Sat-Gurū Nānak, who composed this Banī known as “Ārtā Sahib” a “Sacred Doxology” as an expression of Praise for his father, Sat-Gurū Nānak. It was originally sung in Rāga Ramkalī (the Rāga of the Yogis) This Banī was recited on two recorded occasions by Bābā Sirī Chand, before it entered common practice. The first was on Bābā Jī’s entrance into the Udāsī school of thought; wherein he found refuge in Sat-Gurū as his “Living Gurū” and secondly with the early Nānak-Panthi Sangat when Sat-Gurū, returned from their third Udāsī tour upon their arrival, the Sangat performed Sat-Gurū’s Ārtī with ghī lamps, flowers, and incense.
