Sensi Azores Nature and Spa: From Farmhouse to Resort

Sensi Azores Nature and Spa is surrounded by rural farmland on the western coast of São Miguel, the biggest island in the Azores. The owners are empty-nesters from Lisbon, who purchased an old Azorean farm property, which they turned into a tranquil resort hotel and spa. You’ll find many parts of the old farm woven into the redesign. The main house has several guest rooms, plus the check-in area, restaurant, bar and lounge. Even in bad weather, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the views. The old farm stables are now home to another series of guest rooms. They each have private patios, and several have small plunge pools. The ceilings are tall, and the living spaces are large, with designs influenced by the owners’ time in Asia. The bathrooms are bright and airy, with views of the surrounding farmland. From the deck of the infinity pool, when the fog lifts you can see out into he Atlantic. The spa and wellness center includes a heated indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath, and massage rooms. This area used to be the staff’s living quarters on the old farm. From Sensi, you’re a few miles away from a beautiful rocky coastline, a natural thermal pool, and hiking trails around the area’s volcanic lakes.
