Dhanushkodi, 22-23 December 1964: the night a cyclone born near the equator sent 5-6 metre waves across Rameswaram island, took the port town and the Pamban-Dhanushkodi passenger train, and cut the Pamban bridge. Told hour by hour from the India Meteorological Department's own study and survivors' memories, through Valli, a composite fisher girl; then the bridge rebuilt in 46 days, why the town was never rebuilt, and the families who live there today.
