I'm from the wild Westerwald

I come from a land where the broom is in bloom Where forest and meadow run wide to the horizon That land is my home, the heart of my song I'm from the wild Westerwald Bring a large glass of caraway schnapps And a fresh mug of beer Sausage soup and egg cheese Bring it all right here Where else in the world is heaven If not here in this place I'm from the wild Westerwald With a smile on my face Some say the Good Lord made this land in anger There's nothing but biting wind, scrub, and thorn But happy children are born here together I'm from the wild Westerwald Bring a large glass of caraway schnapps And a fresh mug of beer Sausage soup and egg cheese Bring it all right here Where else in the world is heaven If not here in this place I'm from the wild Westerwald With a smile on my face I tell it to you straight, just the way I am I have no use for polished speech A brightly painted barrel is often empty inside So plain truth is all I teach I like knowing the folks who pass on by Some stop for a chat by the garden fence We leave alone what we don't understand And make room for common sense Sure, life isn't easy, the work can be hard But we never skimp on festivals and cheer In our own special way, we make a good life I'm from the wild Westerwald Bring a large glass of caraway schnapps And a fresh mug of beer Sausage soup and egg cheese Bring it all right here Where else in the world is heaven If not here in this place I'm from the wild Westerwald I'm from the wild Westerwald
