EFF-CoP| Interactive Roundtable Discussion with the foodigIT & DARWIN Projects

🔎 How can artificial intelligence, digital innovation and advanced detection technologies contribute to more transparent, reliable and trustworthy food systems? On 13 October 2026, EFF-CoP organised an interactive online roundtable discussion, bringing together representatives from the foodigIT and DARWIN projects to explore the role of emerging technologies in strengthening food safety, authenticity and traceability. 🎙️ Our invited speakers: 🔹 Constantine-Richard Stefanou, PhD Researcher at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and member of the foodigIT research team, shared insights into AI, computational food science and digital solutions supporting food safety and decision-making. 🔹 Jolien D’aes, Bioinformatician at Sciensano, Belgium, representing DARWIN, explored innovative fingerprinting and detection methods and their potential to strengthen food authenticity verification and traceability. 💬 Key topics explored: -The potential of AI and computational approaches to improve transparency and trust in food systems. -Innovative technologies for food safety, quality and authenticity. -The role of fingerprinting and detection methods in verifying food authenticity. -Building stakeholder and consumer confidence in digital solutions. -Opportunities for collaboration between research projects to develop practical solutions for the food sector.
