Kartik Swami Temple Home Stay:- Contact Person name - Jagdish Singh Negi Contact Number - 9548425668 Kartikswami Temple is dedicated to lord Kartikeya, the elder son of Lord Shiva. It is perhaps the only temple of Kartikeya in Uttarakhand. The temple is situated on a ridge at the top of Kronch Parvat. As per Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Shiva once asked his sons, Kartikeya and Ganesha to take seven rounds of the universe. The one who finishes it first will get the privilege of getting worshipped first. While Lord Kartikeya started his journey, Ganesha took the circle around Lord Shiva saying He is the universe to him. Impressed with his intelligence, Lord Ganesha was first blessed to be worshipped. Angered by this, Kartikeya offered his flesh and bones to Lord Shiva in reverence. In this temple, the bones of Lord Kartikeya are worshipped. How to reach:- 1. The distance from Rudraprayag to Kanakchauri is 40 km. Jeeps and buses are available until 2-3 p.m. in the afternoon. The bus takes around 2.5 hours with lots of breaks. The bus fare is 55. 2. Rudraprayag can be reached from Haridwar at 160kms, jeep rs 300, 5.5hrs 4. Food is pretty basic, chargers 100-150 a meal per person. 5 Trekking to Kartik Swami temple is 3kms and takes 2-3 hrs for an average person, fast trekkers can do it in 1 hour, 6. A guide is not necessary and in fact not available in the village, just follow the trail. 7. It is easy to reach Karnaprayag from kanakchauri via Pokhiri kanak Chauri to pokhiri, jeep , 15 kms, rs 30, 30 mins Pokhar to Karnaprayag, jeep, 40kms, rs 50, 1 hour, route is very beautiful with good views of Nanda Devi peaks and Alaknanda. 8.
