The Seiko That Almost Killed Swiss Watches

In 1975, this Seiko King Quartz was a luxury watch built to prove a point: that quartz could be more than cheap technology. 50 years later, it still works and still feels special on the wrist. In this video I tell the story of the quartz revolution, how it shook the Swiss watch industry, and why Seiko bet on quartz and mechanical at the same time. I also compare the King Quartz 4822-8000 with the mechanical King Seiko 5626-7120, two watches from the same brand and the same decade, with completely different philosophies.
