Don't buy used tires until you check these numbers.
Priya is a new driver, and she doesn't want to buy the wrong tires. The numbers on the sidewall don't match what she thinks her car needs — or do they?
In Episode 02 of THE TIRE TECHNICIAN, Leo first says just match the size. JB slows him down: size is the start, not the whole answer.
The sidewall is an ID card for the tire. It describes the tire — it does not decide what your car needs. Your car's placard and owner's manual decide that. Size, load index, and speed rating have to be considered together, plus condition and the date the tire was made.
Priya almost picks the cheaper set that only matches on size. She chooses the set that actually matches her car instead.
"I came in confused. I'm leaving knowing what to check next time, even if I'm not here."
Four tires. One road. Every detail matters.
Next: Ray says his tires look fine, so the pressure must be fine. JB says: we'll see what the gauge says.
