One night astray, I sense a chilling from within A calling from a land afar leads straight towards its frozen heart A being of frost and wind cleansing the steppes of colour and life Swallows the sun in blackened plight The dull glow of winter’s ashen light will bring it to life Arising cloaked in robes of pristine white Mountain dweller, roaming though the bitter night Chaos of ice and withering might The blizzard seeps into all on its path Winter’s monarch, watching from the misty skies O nature, summon white destruction (behold its frozen reign) Turning haven into void (ice-born tyrant of the North) O tempest, rider of the night winds (left behind, all he has slain) Your might will shake all to their souls… Ruthless blizzard, driving through dark winters Take your toll, taking all Unforgiving blizzard, show no mercy For all will rise, all will grow again I grieve the absence of radiant light, bringer of life Even if it costs me eternity, I await the golden dawn WORLDS BEYOND LIGHT'S REACH “On the path to oblivion, as one is consumed by its plight Through the trees a path will be shone to a haven unpoisoned by light As the moon, gibbous and white, shines on the mountain’s eastward plain On this aeon’s coldest night, the gate will open ‘till it wanes” I roamed the icy plains, finding solace in the cold And came across these words inscribed by beings of old I reach the place where trees entwine, the forest beyond the black The sunless hearth where shadows reign supreme As the moon’s grim glow casts a light over the eastward valley Clouds spiral above me in waves of crimson red Titanic winds roar, and arcane forces carve a hole into the ground Pines collapse around me as I take the leap of faith… Into the snarling void…I fall! Such beauty stretching out into the blue horizon Endless crystals and coralline structures Shine in the glow of an eclipsed star Amethyst-coloured rivers flow between jewelled monoliths On which grow plants I’ve never seen before Frosted stillness awaits my beloved world, left to die While I mourn, cursed with knowledge of its cruel end I see dead aeons on which will reign our dying sun Giant and cold, glowing from the sky QUIESCENCE I see clearly now Soon I will wake from my tomb of leaves Given life by sylvan forces Cloaked In bark, I will be reborn A pine amidst the unending snow... THE FOREST'S LAMENT I rise from the barren land The frozen soil that kept me alive Through this twilit path on which life used to thrive I will show you the ways of these woods that kept me confined Tales of wind and bark arcane to humankind Death will come, approaching… In light shone by the fallen star Death is near, surrounding… A veil of mist from rivers far Death is here, engulfing… Hear the screams of dying hope Death is gone, gone leaving… A trail of black through earth and snow FROST TEARS Ethereal is this land after death Ephemeral is this life drawn from one breath Sap now my blood, limbs of timber and bark Forever awake, never to see the dark Frost tears trickling down my windswept branches Frost tears, orbs of blight that pierce through the darkness Frost tears, all I ever loved is forgotten now
