Fischer-Z – The Worker [Solo Acoustic] | 2 Meter Sessions (2026, 4K)

In this intimate 2 Meter Sessions performance, Fischer-Z (John Watts) delivers a stripped-down version of The Worker, one of the defining songs from the early new wave era. Recorded in 2026 in Amsterdam, this solo rendition highlights the sharp songwriting and direct storytelling that have made Fischer-Z a lasting voice in British rock. With its socially charged lyrics and driving melodic tension, The Worker remains as relevant today as when it was first released. About Fischer-Z Fronted by singer-songwriter John Watts, Fischer-Z emerged in the late 1970s as part of the UK new wave movement. Known for combining post-punk energy with politically aware lyrics and strong pop sensibilities, the band achieved international success with songs like The Worker, So Long, and Marliese. Over the decades, John Watts has continued to evolve Fischer-Z both as a band and solo project, maintaining a distinctive voice within European rock.
