Adapted from Gresham's (@Greshamtrade) X Article, "How to Make Grok Bot Do 10x More Work Without Upgrading Your Plan (Full Course)": https://x.com/Greshamtrade/status/211...
Most teams running Grok or AI coding and research agents hit their usage cap early because prior chat history, full-page HTML dumps, unchanged pages, and full-batch retries burn 90% of the budget before verification runs. We adapt all 7 of Gresham's (@Greshamtrade) workflow fixes into a CLI pipeline (Python 3, trafilatura, jq, changedetection.io) and a Microsoft Foundry gpt-5.1 verification gate to cut per-task usage from 100,000 tokens to 12,500 and raise accepted output from 7 to 70 results per 1M tokens.
What this would cost you
1) Metered cloud cost: shown at 12:33 in Azure Cost analysis (AccumulatedCosts, this month, ungrouped, under our $10/mo lab budget line, read Oct 25, 2026); $0.00 for the 6 local CLI rules (Python 3 stdlib token-workflow-demo-v1.1.py, trafilatura 2.3.1, jq 1.7, SHA-256 diff / changedetection.io), and under $0.05 (~$0.006 ESTIMATE for the 1,906-token live TTT-Verifier Playground run on gpt-5.1 Global Standard in East US 2, source 5). Note (R-LAB-11): Azure budgets send alerts (billing data lags up to 24h) and do not cap spend; Foundry rate limits (10,000 TPM / 100 RPM) cap token spend rate.
2) Licenses: none needed (open-source CLI tools at $0.00 + pay-as-you-go Foundry gpt-5.1 Global Standard deployment with standard Azure RBAC).
3) Estimated total for you: ~$0.004 per 5-item batch ESTIMATE after the 7 fixes (3 unchanged items skipped at $0.00, 1 task capped/resumed, and the 4,000-token verification gate run on the changed draft, ~1,906-4,000 tokens at East US 2 gpt-5.1 Global Standard rates: $1.25/1M input, $10.00/1M output, checked Oct 25, 2026, source 5) vs ~$0.21 per 5-item batch ESTIMATE unoptimized (500K tokens across 5 full 100K runs), or ~$3.75 vs ~$30.00 ESTIMATE (80/20 split: 1.25M vs 10M tokens) across 100 tasks (-87.5% spend, 7 to 70 accepted results/1M tokens).
Level: Intermediate
What we set up (fictional lab: Ticket to Tech, ./competitor-watch/)
5-Artifact Contract (source 1): BRIEF.md (106 words), HANDOFF.md (112 words, under the 400-word cap), sources/, results/, and run-log.csv.
7 Workflow Fixes (100,000 to 12,500 tokens/task): 1) HANDOFF.md under 400 words (28K to 1.5K); 2) trafilatura --markdown & jq extraction (22K to 3K) verifying "$24/user/month billed annually" ($288/yr commitment) survives; 3 & 4) SHA-256 diff & 30d static TTL (static_30d vs pricing_on_change, skipping 3 unchanged vendors via SKIP_LLM: 30K to 2K); 5 & 6) Single-owner tasks.json & 2-retry cap on 2026-10-19-harbor (HTTP 503/504 logged as blocked,fetch_failed in run-log.csv without wiping 4 briefs, resumed via --resume: 17K to 2K); 7) 4,000-token Verification Gate (TTT-Verifier on gpt-5.1 as TTT Demo + local verify: 3K to 4K) returning HOLD_FOR_FIX to catch the $24/mo annual lock-in vs $32/mo monthly and unsupported switching claim (60d notice).
What we know
Unoptimized runs burn 97K of 100K tokens on input/retry waste and 3K on verification (10 tasks/1M tokens x 70% = 7 usable results, source 1).
The 7 fixes cut task cost to 12.5K tokens and raise verification to 4K (80 tasks/1M tokens x 87.5% = 70 usable results, 10x accepted work, source 1).
