I hiked into the Rocky Mountains of southern Alberta for a simple solo winter camping trip with my dog Sully. With heavy wind and an unexpected February fire restriction, we set up a tarp shelter and made the best of a cold night in the backcountry.
With no fire allowed, I cooked up a pot of elk stew using beer, water, and a homemade juniper spice mix while the wind pushed through camp. It was a simple setup — just a tarp, some basic gear, and a quiet winter night in the mountains.
Sully and I rode out the windy night, packed up in the morning, and hiked back out of the Rockies.
Just a simple backcountry overnight in the Alberta Rockies.
Thanks for watching.
