Asmā’ bint Abī Bakr رضي الله عنها | Raising Courage | Episode 19

🌿 GENERATIONS OF LIGHT | EPISODE 19 ASMĀ’ BINT ABĪ BAKR رضي الله عنها | RAISING COURAGE What does courage look like when you must find it again and again throughout your life? Meet Asmā’ bint Abī Bakr رضي الله عنها—a remarkable woman whose life stretched across generations of Islamic history. Known as Dhāt an-Niṭāqayn, the Possessor of Two Waist Belts, Asmā’ played an important role in the Hijrah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and her father, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq رضي الله عنه. But her story does not end with the Hijrah. Journey with us through the life of a woman who embraced Islam early, protected a secret at great personal cost, migrated while pregnant, welcomed a son whose birth brought joy to the Muslims, and carried the responsibilities of family life through difficult circumstances. Meet the daughter of Abu Bakr, the sister of Aisha رضي الله عنها, the wife of al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam رضي الله عنه, and the mother of Abdullah and Urwah ibn al-Zubayr. Discover the family connections through which knowledge was preserved, and witness the remarkable courage with which Asmā’ faced the final, painful chapter of her son Abdullah's life. From her encounter with Abu Jahl in Makkah to her confrontation with al-Hajjaj in old age, her story invites us to reflect on a question that remains relevant to every generation: Where is Allah asking you to stand firm?
