What do you do when following God makes life harder instead of easier? In Exodus 5–7:7, Moses and the Israelites discover that obedience to God doesn’t always lead to immediate relief. Sometimes, following God leads us through trials before we experience triumph.
In this sermon, we explore what it means to trust God when life gets difficult, when our prayers seem unanswered, and when obedience brings unexpected suffering. Through Moses’ struggle with Pharaoh and God’s promises to His people, we’re reminded that suffering doesn’t mean God has failed or that we’ve done something wrong. God is still at work, even when we can’t see what He’s doing.
*When suffering comes, remember four things:*
*Remember who God is.* He is the powerful, personal God who loves His people and draws near to them.
*Remember what He promised.* God promises freedom from sin, a relationship with Him, and an eternal future in His presence.
*Remember your place in God’s story.* You are loved by God and invited to be part of His redemptive purposes.
*Remember God’s purpose.* He works through our suffering to accomplish His purposes, bring good to His people, and display His glory.
Ultimately, the cross of Jesus reminds us that what looks like defeat may be the very place where God is accomplishing His greatest victory. The suffering of this present time is not the end of the story. For those who belong to Christ, glory is ahead.
*Keep walking. Keep trusting. Keep obeying. God is with you, and there is glory ahead.*
📖 *Scripture:* Exodus 5–7:7
