She Threatened the Wrong Human—Then Learned He Was a Navy SEAL _ BEST HFY SCI-FI STORY
She put a spear to his throat and promised to airlock him in front of the whole dock. He offered her a cup of tea.
Marshal Iszarrin is the proudest, most feared customs officer on the free port of Kijiweni, and she has just picked on a stout, bald, tea-drinking repair man named Mosi Ndagoro. Everyone on the ring knows him as the most harmless person on the station. Nobody knows what is locked in the case under his workshop floor, or what a small silver trident pin means, or why he never sits with his back to a door.
Then, in the middle of the busiest festival of the year, two hundred mercenaries seal the exits, stick shaped charges across a glass ceiling, and take three hundred hostages, including his teenage daughter. The only way in is the dark water beneath the old fountain. The only weapon is a retired Navy SEAL who promised he would never need his skills again.
This original HFY sci-fi story is about a threat made at the worst possible moment to the worst possible person, and the quiet, patient, deeply satisfying payoff. It runs about seventy minutes in full narration, with a clever hostage-rescue plan, a legend whispered among mercenaries, and a proud officer learning what real strength looks like.
