My observatory rebuild and upgrade begin. In this first video, I strip everything out, remove the old HEQ5 Pro pier adapter, and build a custom steel adapter plate for the new MLAstro One mount — all by hand. Later in this series I will put my new ASKAR SQA106 on that mount, so stay tuned for that.
The adapter is machined from a 200×200 mm steel plate, 10 mm thick. Drilling, cutting, sanding, and painting — no CNC, just basic workshop tools and patience. If you've ever thought about upgrading your pier interface or building your own adapter, this is the step-by-step you need.
