100th Annual Chincoteague Pony Swim - July 30, 2025

After months of anticipation, the 100th Annual Chincoteague Pony Swim took place at 8:07am! People from around the world gathered in Veteran's Memorial Park, in the marsh mud on Pony Swim Lane, and on boats and kayaks on the Assateague Channel at daybreak to witness history in motion! When slack tide arrived, the Chincoteague Ponies entered the water and swam from Assateague Island to Chincoteague Island - a tradition that’s brought our island community and visitors together for a full century and honors the legacy of the Saltwater Cowboys, the spirit of the Chincoteague Ponies, and the heart of Chincoteague Island. At the end of the video, you will see the Saltwater Cowboys catching King Neptune. He was the first pony ashore!
