In the previous lecture, we motivated the study of non-degenerate limiting distributions through examples. While the Weak and Strong Laws of Large Numbers describe convergence of sample averages to the population mean, the CLT describes the limiting distribution of appropriately scaled fluctuations around that mean. Topics covered: • Statement of the Central Limit Theorem • Assumptions for the classical i.i.d. CLT • Centering and standardization of sums and sample means • Proof of the theorem • Interpretation of the limiting normal distribution This lecture is part of Ease Academy’s Large Sample Theory series, which builds concepts through mathematical reasoning and proofs. The series is useful for IIT JAM Mathematical Statistics, GATE Statistics, ISI entrance examinations, and undergraduate and postgraduate courses in probability and statistics. Watch the playlist in sequence to develop the prerequisites, including modes of convergence and laws of large numbers.
