This time I switched to 4 lb line to help land more fish and avoid break-offs. The action started slow, but once the sun dropped toward the trees the bite really turned on. Most of the fish came at the end of long drifts, and several hard-fighting shad put on an amazing show with jumps, runs, and powerful surges near shore. I also share some thoughts on fly colors, shad fishing techniques, and why covering water with longer drifts can make a big difference.
