The Clockwork General | Modern Major General Reimagined as a Steampunk Anthem

What happens when a Victorian steam-engine is given a military command? Welcome to The Clockwork General. High above the clouds, aboard a brass-clad airship, a mechanical commander springs to life. Ticking clockwork begins. A brass fanfare rings out. A slightly detuned upright piano starts to play. And a booming baritone voice launches into a rapid-fire list of everything he knows—and he knows everything. This is Gilbert and Sullivan's "Modern Major General," reimagined as a grand steampunk anthem. The machinery becomes the orchestra: ticking metronome, clockwork percussion, wheezing calliope, brass stabs, clanking chains, steam-whistle accents, and warm wax-cylinder crackle, all driving a ragtime groove at a brisk 130 BPM. The General boasts of Babbage and Watt. He charts airship routes, computes boiler heat, forecasts storms, navigates by sextant. He is versed in springs and pinions. He is sound on all horology. But beneath the major-key pomp and carnival-barker swagger, there's a minor undertow. A sinister edge. A mainspring that's always winding tighter. The Clockwork General is the fifth chapter in the Clockwork series: The Clockwork Entertainer - the machine performs. Clockwork Soldiers - the machine marches. The Clockwork Waltz - the machine dances. The Clockwork Quartet - the machine sings. The Clockwork General - the machine commands. A steampunk reimagining of a Gilbert and Sullivan classic, blending ragtime piano, brass fanfare, clockwork percussion, and a declamatory baritone performance that grows more unhinged with every verse. In short, in matters coal and steam and brass and every mineral, he is the very model of a clockwork brass-clad General. Just don't ask him to stop. #TheClockworkGeneral #ModernMajorGeneral #GilbertAndSullivan #Steampunk #Clockwork #Ragtime #AIMusic #SteampunkMusic
