In this video, we head northeast to the beautiful city of Benxi (本溪) for a perfect summer getaway. We checked into a cozy hot spring hotel to unwind before heading out to explore two of the area's most famous nature parks. While Benxi is known for its fall colors, seeing the endless, vibrant green maple forests in the peak of summer was absolutely breathtaking and the perfect way to connect with nature. Of course, no trip to Dongbei is complete without diving headfirst into the legendary local food scene. Even in the summer, you can't skip the classics! We feasted on Guo Tie Dun (锅贴炖 - Iron Pot Stew) with fluffy breads steamed right on the side of the pot, crispy and tangy Guo Bao Rou (锅包肉), and a dish that completely stole our hearts - the most perfectly crispy, flavourful fried shrimps!
