Autumnfall - The Archaic Sins (album, 2026) melodic black metal

Today it is my pleasure to bring you an advance stream of the third album from Finland’s Autumnfall. A revision and recollection of several pieces of music and ideas from the history of Jussi Hänninen’s band, given a re-focus and finalising into a cohesive complete album with a full line-up that elevates the tight, aggressive black metal into a grand vista of post-black expansiveness and crescendo. There is the grey pall of Agalloch’s wintery coldness, a little of the steely medievalism of Obsequiae’s castle metal, and the grim gnashing bleakness and wrathful nature of the black metal typical of their Finnish brethren. A ferociously focused, and satisfying listen all round. The album is released in full this Friday, 25th September through Ardua Music in a limited edition of 300 CD copies.
