Solo Hiking & Palette Knife Painting on a Dangerous Mountain Top

Carrying a massive Belgian linen canvas up a rugged, loose and rocky outback mountain peak is tough. Carrying kilograms of heavy oil paint to slap on with a knife makes it insane. In this video, I tackle one of the steepest, most exposed domed peaks in the Flinders Ranges. This isn't your average landscape paint; my signature impasto style requires massive amounts of heavy oil paint to achieve those thick, textured layers. Hauling all that extra weight, survival gear and a giant canvas up crumbling rock faces is a brutal test of endurance. One sudden gust on that open peak could blow myself and the whole kit off the mountain. After fighting the elements to lock down the raw beauty of the summit with my palette knife, I then make a dangerous and high concentration decent. With a huge wet work of art on my shoulder, all my gear and a wet palette, I slowly pick my way back down the loose rocky mountain side. Being especially careful not to smudge my wet painting on sticks and shrubs on this craggy, untamed terrain. Finally after reaching the creek, I then return to base camp for a well-earned reward.
