There is someone who makes you angrier than the moment should. Why them?
Carl Jung called the parts of ourselves we refuse to recognize the shadow. After his break with Sigmund Freud, Jung began a frightening confrontation with his own unconscious. His visions and writings became *The Red Book*. This essay follows that rupture and asks why the person who gets under your skin can feel so unmistakably wrong — and so personal.
At work, in a family argument, or in a comment section, the force of a reaction can be a clue. Jung's idea of projection asks what we might be seeing in someone else before we can bear to see it in ourselves.
The reading of Freud and Jung's private motives in this video is an interpretation of their documented conflict, not a diagnosis of either man.
