Can We Afford Food in Russia? | American in Russia

How much does food really cost in Russia in 2026? 🇷🇺 Can we afford to buy food in Russia? I’m an American living in Irkutsk, Siberia, and today I’m taking you inside a Russian grocery store to show you what food actually costs. From everyday essentials to the prices of common groceries, let’s take a look at what shopping in Russia is really like. With rising food prices and so many stories circulating about Russia, inflation, and the cost of living, I wanted to show you the prices for yourself. A note about food prices across Russia: Food prices can vary considerably depending on where you live in Russia. I'm filming in Irkutsk, in Siberia, so these prices reflect what I've found here, not necessarily what someone would pay in Moscow, Vladivostok, or a remote northern region. Transport distances, logistics, local supply, and the availability of products can all affect prices. The cost of living isn't the same everywhere in this enormous country!
