Dark Country Music for When You Chose the Weight — CHAINS I CHOSE

Dark country music for when you chose the weight. "Chains I Chose" is an outlaw country song about a man who can't outrun what he's done. Gritty baritone vocals, haunting resonator guitar, southern gothic atmosphere. If you're here for dark country music that sounds like Johnny Cash meets Nick Cave, you're in the right place. Out on Spotify & Apple Music — September 4, 2026. LYRICS They see the chains around me and they think that I'm not free But every link I'm carrying is a choice that came from me I chose the weight of loyalty, I chose the weight of home Chains I chose myself, I don't carry them alone These are chains I chose, not chains that were forced on me Every link's a promise, every link's a history You can call it bondage if you want to call it that Chains I chose myself, and I'm not taking them back ABOUT ASH MARSHAL Ash Marshal is a scorched outlaw walking a dead frontier — a dark country saga told across 90 original songs in three chapters: Guilt & Faith, War & Loyalty, Love & Loss.
