Taking a 20-Year-Old Nova Speedmax for a Quick Spin

A friend brought me his newly purchased, 20-year-old Nova Speedmax PPG wing for a trim check and setup. After going through the wing, we took it flying — and I couldn’t resist borrowing it for one quick turn at the end of the day. Its handling feels somewhat tandem-like, partly due to the heavy, old-school canopy fabric. It carves really tight yet clean, smooth, and very predictable turns, thanks to the brake-line geometry tuned towards the wingtips.
