I Got Stopped by Armed Police for Holding a Toy Gun

In this video, I'm reacting to and breaking down body-worn camera footage from one of the strangest encounters I've ever had with the police. While I was at work, armed police officers approached me following a report concerning a tall male allegedly walking around with a gun. As you can imagine, a report involving someone carrying a firearm is going to be taken extremely seriously by the police, and I completely understand why armed officers would be dispatched to investigate. However, one particular detail about the encounter immediately stood out to me. When the officers approached me, one of the first things I was asked was essentially: "Was it you walking around with a 'toy' gun?" And I found that bizarre. If the information initially given to police was simply that a tall male had been seen walking around with a gun, how had the description apparently become a "toy gun" by the time they spoke to me? Maybe there's a perfectly reasonable explanation. Perhaps the officers had received additional information before approaching me, or perhaps something had already led them to believe the firearm wasn't genuine. I don't know, but I find it to be an interesting detail regardless. Thankfully, nobody was hurt and the situation was quickly and calmly resolved, but seeing an encounter like this from the police officer's body-worn camera provides quite a different perspective from simply remembering what happened in the moment.
