What happens when the boundaries between the body, nature, and the world around us begin to dissolve?
The Bearable Stickiness of Being is one of the featured exhibitions of Warsaw Gallery Weekend 2026 (WGW 2026), presented by Łazorczyk Gallery, a Poznań-based gallery, as a guest exhibition in Warsaw as part of the WGW+ programme.
Bringing together three distinctive voices from the contemporary Polish art scene — Mateusz Gromadzki, Anna Kołacka, and Julia Królikowska — the exhibition explores the relationship between bodies, organic matter, nature, architecture, and the environments we inhabit.
Curated by Marta Smolińska, the exhibition is presented in a historic Warsaw tenement house at 44 Nowogrodzka Street. The character of the building, its preserved architectural details, textures, and traces of the past become an integral part of the exhibition, creating a dialogue between contemporary art and Warsaw’s architectural history.
Anna Kołacka’s paintings move between microscopic structures, organic forms, bodily landscapes, and cosmic imagery. Julia Królikowska works with transparent organza to create delicate, layered forms inspired by membranes, tissues, and structures beneath the surface of the body. Mateusz Gromadzki combines natural materials such as plants, wax, and branches with drawing and installation, examining relationships between human and non-human life.
Together, the artists create an immersive environment in which painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, architecture, and the viewer’s body become part of the same interconnected system.
For international art collectors, curators, galleries, art advisors, and enthusiasts looking to discover emerging and established voices in contemporary Polish art, this exhibition offers an insight into the current Warsaw art scene and the wider Central and Eastern European art landscape.
Warsaw Gallery Weekend has become an important meeting point for collectors and international art professionals interested in Polish contemporary art, emerging artists, contemporary painting, galleries, and new developments in the Central European art market.
