Botswana (3) Namibia Caprivi Strip Divundu to Kasane/ wildlife corridor/Botswana Safari/Namibia Close encounters of the elephant kind: Part of the traditional migration route between southern Angola and northern Bostwana, the Caprivi Strip is part of an ecosystem that supports nearly 145,000 elephants at any one time. Herds of up to 700 animals often surround safari vehicles. Part of German South West Africa during 1884–1919, the strip was ceded by Britain to give the German colony riparian access to the Zambezi and was named for Leo, Graf von Caprivi, German chancellor during 1890–94. The Caprivi is still very much wild Africa and is much less touristed than most of Southern Africa. For that reason and many others, it's an absolutely amazing experience. And there are places where you can feel like the only person on the planet. The new name is the Zambezi Region. Hippos and crocodiles are abundant in the rivers and antelope such as waterbuck, red lechwe and the rare semi-aquatic sitatunga thrive in the marshes. There is plenty of food for resident lions and wild dogs often roam this area as well. Peace in Angola has improved the security situation along the Namibia–Angola border. Due to the risk of banditry, however, you should exercise caution when travelling to this area, including Kavango Region in the northeast and the western half of Zambezi Region (formerly known as Caprivi). Divundu (1.090 m above sea level) is a village on the south-eastern banks of the Okavango River in the Kavango East Region of Namibia, 200 kilometres (120 mi) east of Rundu. Game drives to the nearby national park, Bwabwata National Park, which is well known for the diversity of wildlife in typical riverine and swampland habitat, are popular amongst tourists. Tourists frequent the Ndhovu Safari Lodge, which offers boat cruises to the Popa Falls, as well as camping facilities and guided village tours to the local Kamutjonga village. #namibia nam #africa #africanwildlife #okavangodelta #okavango #delta #Botswana caprivi strip namibia road trip caprivi strip namibia caprivi strip map caprivi strip africa caprivi strip population caprivi strip namibia strip of land map caprivi namibia caprivi strip hunting
