Naresh Raj Subedi, Spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and Superintendent of Police (SP), stated that public buses bound for Kathmandu have been halted due to the closure of major highways connecting to the capital. According to the Flood Forecasting Division, there is a risk of flooding in Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Terhathum, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Khotang, Udayapur, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Sindhuli, Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, and Kavrepalanchok. Similarly, the Division has reported a moderate risk of flash floods in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Makwanpur, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Tanahun, Syangja, Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Myagdi, Baglung, Parbat, Rukum East, Rukum West, Pyuthan, Rolpa, Salyan, Dolpa, Jajarkot, Jumla, Kalikot, Mugu, Humla, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura, and surrounding districts. Similarly, it has been reported that there is a high risk of flash floods and a significant rise in water levels in small rivers flowing through Gorkha, Lamjung, Kaski, Manang, Mustang, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet, Dailekh, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and surrounding districts. Continuous rainfall has been occurring in the Kathmandu Valley—the country's federal capital—since early Thursday morning. Due to the rain, water levels in the rivers within the Kathmandu Valley have started to rise. In response to the rising water levels, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has issued public announcements urging people not to stop or park vehicles along river corridors. Likewise, the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs has urged drivers to exercise caution, citing the likelihood of heavy rain and potential landslides on highways. Deknath Gautam, the General Secretary of the Federation, advised all transport operators and drivers to coordinate with security agencies while traveling, noting that highways could be obstructed due to the rainfall.
