Nielle remembers the boy from the previous year in her college and keeps tabs on his case, even going as far to visit him in the hospital to try to let him know that he should take the transfusion. The two begin getting awfully close, and both families begin trying to part them; Adam's due to their religion and Nielle's since her mother was involved with his case and with him around, it's inappropriate. They still try to see one another, Adam going out of his way and even walks through a storm to get to Nielle.
