In this video, we take you on an unplanned trip to the beautiful village of Phyang, located about 30 km from Leh. Our friend and tour organizer Baarzi invited us to his stunning home nestled amidst poplar trees and a flowing stream, offering breathtaking mountain views. Baarzi's house is a masterpiece, combining traditional Ladakhi elements with modern aesthetics. We spent a few hours enjoying his warm hospitality before heading to the Phyang Monastery. The monastery was bustling with activity as they prepared to welcome a prominent spiritual leader. While we couldn't speak to any Lamas due to the ceremony, Baarzi shared interesting facts about the monastery's Buddha statue brought from Bhutan and the intricate wall paintings depicting Buddha's life story. The vibrant welcome procession with locals in traditional attire was a sight to behold. Witnessing this deep connection between Buddhism and its teachings in their lives was a truly special experience. This unplanned trip to Phyang turned out to be one of our best! From experiencing Ladakhi hospitality at its finest to witnessing local traditions, Phyang is a must-add to your Ladakh itinerary. Like this video?
