Backyard Railroad: Welding Train Car Frame for Titan Trains Bettendorf Trucks

We made more progress on our very first train car! First time for everything! This car will most likely be a flatbed car. More to come! Materials: -1" x 2" rectangular steel, 1/8" thick walls --5' section (length of the car) --3" sections (the small bolsters) --15" sections (longer bolsters) Here are some helpful measurements that we chose after speaking with Jim at Titan Trains in relation to where we put our bolsters and mounting holes for trucks and couplers: -- 8" from end of frame to center of the 3/8" diameter TRUCK ASSEMBLY MOUNTING HOLE (which is 7" from end of frame to the front edge of the bolsters, the cross sections) -- 2" from end of frame to center of the 3/8" diameter COUPLER MOUNTING HOLE We got our steel pre-cut from Metal Supermarkets: https://buynow.metalsupermarkets.com/...
