From Protecting Communities to Protecting Wealth with Tyrone Harvey

Tyrone’s career has taken several unexpected turns, but each chapter has been connected by a consistent desire to coach, protect, and serve others. After playing football at the University of Central Florida, he made the difficult decision to step away from the sport and pursue a career in law enforcement. At just 18 years old, Tyrone entered the police academy and began working as an officer at 19. During his law enforcement career, Tyrone served in patrol, aggressive driving enforcement, and school resource roles. Working with students became one of the most meaningful parts of his career, allowing him to counsel young people and help them navigate difficult moments. At the same time, he was building a second career in fitness and weightlifting. Tyrone eventually opened and operated a commercial fitness facility, building a team of coaches while developing athletes at the highest levels of competitive weightlifting. He has served as a Team USA head coach at international competitions and earned the designation of senior international coach—one of the highest coaching distinctions available through USA Weightlifting. When the COVID-19 shutdown forced Tyrone to close his gym’s doors, he responded by lending equipment to members and moving workouts online. Although the gym survived, keeping it open required significant personal and financial sacrifice. The experience caused Tyrone to reconsider what he wanted from his career, particularly his desire for greater flexibility and more time with his wife and children. An opportunity in financial services provided his next pivot. Tyrone quickly recognized that the skills he developed in law enforcement and fitness translated naturally to financial planning. Each role required him to listen carefully, solve problems, establish accountability, and coach people toward meaningful long-term goals. Today, Tyrone is the founder of ARX Strategic Wealth, an independent registered investment advisory firm focused largely on retirement income planning. The firm’s name comes from a Latin word meaning “fortress,” reflecting Tyrone’s lifelong commitment to helping others feel protected, supported, and prepared for what comes next.
