Full walkaround of a custom lightweight Chevy 2500 canopy, weighed by a third party at 4,821kg with a full long range fuel tank and 210L of water on board. If you’re planning a big touring or caravan setup on an American truck, this one’s for you.
This black Chevrolet Silverado 2500 came to us after Dean and the team at Big Dog Builds had done the vehicle side, including a lithium and Victron electrical system under the seats. We built one of our lightweight premium aluminium canopies on it and tied straight into that system. Inside you’ll find a slide-out drop-down kitchen with a Westinghouse induction cooker, a 130L Bushman upright fridge, aluminium drawers, colour-coded insulation, and a twin ARB compressor with Moreflate. Out back there’s a 210L full-length water tank that lets the owner refill his caravan on site. Our bonded construction means no welds and no rivets, and the Chevy’s factory reverse cameras, sensors and blind spot monitoring have all been relocated so they still work. It comes in at around 4.4 tonne dry, built to suit how this customer tours, not off a kit.
