60103 "Flying Scotsman" paid a visit to Newcastle on Wednesday 23rd September as part of the "Legendary Journey" railtour organised by Fox & Edward Events in partnership with the National Railway Museum, who are the custodian of the Flying Scotsman. I went to see it at both Newcastle (arriving) and Chester-le-Street (passing through on its way back to York), and also watched the ECS move to Tyne Yard hauled by Class 37 37240.
Realtime Trains:
1Z32 1054 York to Newcastle: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/serv...
5Z32 1333 Newcastle to Tyne S.S (Tyne Yard): https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/serv...
1Z33 1641 Newcastle to York: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/serv...
It also ran 5Z33 1602 Tyne S.S (Tyne Yard) to Newcastle, which isn't featured in this video as I'd headed down to Chester-le-Street to spot it there on its way down to York. I also spent around 3 hours at Chester-le-Street doing some other spotting as well, so a little compilation (~10 minutes worth of footage, mostly of some very fast trains) is in the works and should be uploaded in the coming days.
And please guys: don't trespass to see the Flying Scotsman, or anything else. I witnessed some very disappointing behaviour at Newcastle and to be blunt, if trainspotters continue to behave in this way, it's going to lead rail staff (who tend to be warm and welcoming towards spotters) to develop a sense of hostility towards them. As trainspotters, we - of all people - should know the dangers of getting too close to trains.
I hope you enjoy this video!
