The Pan-American Highway runs 19,000 miles from Alaska to Argentina — and right in the middle, it just stops. The Darien Gap is 66 miles of roadless jungle that has defeated every engineer since the 1970s, and it's the only land route connecting South and Central America. Over 1.2 million people crossed it between 2020 and 2025. The UN counts 546 known deaths — and the true number is unknowable. In 2026, the river ran dry: northbound crossings collapsed to near zero. This is the jungle nobody can tame. 🎥 Welcome to The Curiosity Gap — geography and mystery stories that make you say "wait, what?" New mysteries every week.
