Oak Paper Seed Pot Maker - Episode 39

A quick Tuesday evening project for a change rather than one of my longer weekend pieces. This project was inspired by Steve Jones - Woodturner21 (links below). When I first saw this project a while ago on his YouTube channel it was ear marked as something to do. A recent post on this again on Woodchuckers (links below) reminded me of this project. If you watch Steve make this he is a genius with the skew and made the main body alone in under 2 minutes (real time). For me the process was a lot longer due to a few reasons. Firstly I was using a piece of green Oak, registering in most places up to 20%, Also the blank I had was not a normal spindle but an off cut from a mill where the grain didn't run from end to end in a spindle format meaning that it would be unsafe to use a roughing gouge or skew in the normal way. Also I've been turning less weeks that what Steve has done in years. A great project to make, with a big thanks to Steve for everything. The finish was Sanding Sealer, Yorkshire Grit and Carnauba wax.
