Should you stay with your wife after she cheated? You may be asking that question far too early. After betrayal, your brain can begin identifying your spouse as a threat. Trying to make a permanent decision about your marriage while you're still in the middle of betrayal trauma can make it incredibly difficult to see your situation clearly. Instead of immediately deciding whether to stay or leave, focus on two things: your healing and your spouse's actions. Your spouse needs to do the work to understand the WHAT, WHY, and HOW behind the betrayal. You need to heal enough to evaluate their behavior from a healthier place—not simply rely on promises that it will never happen again. Reconciliation shouldn't mean returning to the marriage you had before. If both people become independently healthy, you have the opportunity to build an entirely new relationship.
