Ephesians 2:19–22 | No Longer Strangers | Refuge Church Centralia

In Ephesians 2:19–22, Paul brings the second chapter of Ephesians to a remarkable conclusion. Those who were once strangers and aliens are now fellow citizens with the saints, members of the household of God, and part of a people being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. These verses show us what Christ has brought His people into. The church is more than a weekly gathering of unrelated individuals. In Christ, we have been brought into a family. We are being joined together on the foundation given through the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ Himself as the cornerstone. Our doctrine, worship, priorities, relationships, and life together must remain aligned with Him. None of this rests on our ability to make ourselves acceptable to God. Jesus Christ shed His blood to bring sinners near. Those who were dead have been made alive. Those who were far off have been brought near. Those who were strangers have been brought home. The testimony of the church is not, “Look what we built,” but, “Look what Christ is building.” Join Refuge Church Centralia as we continue our study through the book of Ephesians and consider what it means to belong to Christ and to His people.
