A join me on a walk through Mungoma Caves, the womb and sacred shrine of the Maragoli people. It is famously know as HANGO HA MULOGOLI, the HOME OF MULOGOLI after the legendary founder of the Maragoli community. Maragolis call this place YENGO, to mean, HOME.
Maragolis, and people from allover the globe visit here for history, pilgrimage, prayers, tourism, reflection and appreciation. Entering the cave is a hike and a half! It takes more than courage to maneuver through the rocks. Some places are dark and cold, like Mulogoli's bedroom while others give a breathtaking view of penetrating sunrays. However, not everyone is allowed to experince this thrilling adventure, according to the Maragoli taboos. You ought to find out your eligibility to enter before embarking otherwise it is believed that you might never return.
The caves' summit offers a great site and beautiful view of the Nandi Hills, Miwani plains, Ndeere and Maboko islands on L.Victoria, and the spectacular stretch of Lake Victoria on the horizon.
