The Velvet Underground - 1969 Compilation (Full Vinyl Album) (Analogue Goodies)

I was watching something on Youtube that reminded me I had this album gathering dust on the shelf... a compilation of all the extra tracks The Velvet Underground recorded in 69 for a mythical lost album... or were they just demos... the funny thing is in interviews nobody seems to remember why they recorded all this material... it was originally released as 'VU' in 1984 and 'Another View' in 1986... and then compiled again for a box set bonus disc in 2012... and then finally got its own release as a double vinyl album in 2017... the American pressing got a lot of bad reviews at the time and everybody seemed to forget this album exists... while I bought the European pressing in 2018 and found it excellent... tho unfortunately not truly analogue... it is a great collection of songs... I must admit... I think 'VU' is probably a better listen... even with its sacrilegious remixes that were designed to make it sound more like a contemporary alternative 80's album... in fact it's the one original VU record I'd like to track down... and have never seen 'in the wild...' while here... what we get is what it sounded like... raw in the studio... in 1969... chronology fans should be aware that... side 4 contains their final material recorded with John Cale in 1967-68 and should be heard as following 'White Light/White Heat' while sides 1 - 3 were recorded in 1969 after 'The Velvet Underground' and should be heard as preceding 'Loaded...' in other words... you can always play side 4 first..!
