The Twentymile Mine is a highly efficient underground thermal coal mine located in Routt County, near Oak Creek and Hayden, Colorado. Owned and operated by Peabody Energy, the mine produces around 1.8 million tons of coal per year and employs approximately 300 workers. Method: Uses the longwall mining method to extract high-quality, compliant thermal coal. Logistics: Coal is transported via the Union Pacific railroad to various energy providers.
