OUT OF THE CELLAR FILM FESTIVA LUNLEASHES INAUGURAL HORROR SLATE AT CASTRO VALLEY’S CHABOT THEATER

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — This autumn, cinema’s darkest secrets escape from underground! The inaugural Out Of The Cellar (OOTC) Film Festival will descend upon the historic, single-screen Chabot Theater in Castro Valley on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14, 2026. Designed as a boutique haven for true genre connoisseurs, OOTC transforms the classic movie house into an electric, communal theater experience where every screening is an event. Founded by filmmaker Veronica Craven—inspired by her syndicated 2000s horror soap opera In The Cellar—the festival pays homage to hosted television luminaries like Bob Wilkins, Elvira, and Count Gore De Vol while championing the next generation of independent genre filmmakers. Read more about the festival’s origins in the OOTC Founder Spotlight. Featured at the event will be a showing of "The Rental Reaper" — Directed by Hank Heimlich (Elon University): A bored slasher lingers at the scene of his latest kill, desperately hoping for a victim who can fight back. Join the Party!
